"Nature is the origin of everything we consider beautiful. Nothing sharpens the mind and gives relief from the pressures of our high-velocity society than a walk in the woods or a quiet paddle in a lake among the birds, beavers, and water lilies. The natural world is the real world; it is sometimes cruel, but it always provides stimulation for our senses and inspiration for our creativity." - Joel Zatz

An Important Message from NATJA CEO, Helen Hernandez
Monday, March 16, 2020 07:00 PM

Dear NATJA Family & Friends:

Based on the impact of the Covid-19 virus and the recommendations of governmental authorities, including Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vázquez’ curfew and meeting lockdown requirements, Discover Puerto Rico and NATJA’s executive leadership have together decided to postpone our Annual Conference & Marketplace until later this year, or another future date to be determined considering the health and safety of our members and other participants.
We are currently exploring alternative dates for the conference and will advise our members and conferees as soon as possible. Your NATJA leadership works hard to schedule conferences and other activities based on members’ convenience, the availability of suitable presenters, and the accessibility of tours and article-worthy events, all of which have been compromised by the current situation. We will be working with our Advisory Board and Discover Puerto Rico to find the best available alternate dates.

We send our heartfelt concern for all of our members and partners and deeply appreciate your understanding and support.

Warm regards,

Helen Hernandez
Chief Executive Officer

Tuesday, January 29, 2019 06:28 PM

PASADENA, CALIF. - The North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) is pleased to announce that journalist Jayme Moye has been selected to receive the Keith Bellows Award for Excellence in Travel Journalism, named in honor of the long time Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Traveler. The award will be presented at the Inaugural NATJA Awards Dinner on Friday, February 15th in Los Angeles, California.

“Jayme personifies Keith’s passion for travel and using the power of journalism to create awareness and appreciation of people, cultures, and nature,” stated NATJA CEO Helen Hernandez. “In Jayme’s case, her coverage empowers women in adventure sports. She has brought to the forefront women’s struggles with sexual harassment in the river-raft industry as well as highlighted the first female road biking team in Afghanistan. It is only fitting that NATJA bestow this honor to Jayme, the first woman to receive this award.”
