Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of WWI and the 75th Anniversary of WWII May 26-27, 2017 To commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War I and the 75th anniversary of World War II, the Virginia World War I and World War II Profiles of Honor Mobile Tour will visit Lynchburg on Friday, May 26 and Saturday May 27, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. The Profiles of Honor Mobile will welcome visitors at the foot of Monument Terrace at Church and Ninth Streets with an interactive exhibit and opportunities to digitize and archive family heirlooms and memorabilia in the Library of Virginia that relate to the wars.

By proclamation of Governor Asa Hutchinson, and in recognition of the positive economic, social, and cultural impact of the travel and tourism industry, Arkansas will celebrate May 7-13 as Tourism Week. In 2016, visitors who traveled in Arkansas spent an estimated $7.7 billion, which generated $538 million in state and local taxes, and supported more than 100,000 jobs. Across the state, communities are planning to salute National Travel and Tourism Week in a variety of ways. Following is a list of places and activities planned, as submitted by the individual locations. |

Mountain bikers from across the nation will be heading to Arkansas for the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships May 7 in Arkadelphia. The event will be held at the Iron Mountain Trail System, which is located in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains and on the south shore of DeGray Lake.
