What’s New on Catalina Island

2019 Official Catalina Island Visitors Guide Debuts

The fully updated 2019 Official Visitors Guide is the essential trip planning tool for all visitors to Catalina Island. The 79 page book includes detailed information on hotels, vacation rentals, attractions, restaurants and tours available on the Island. Expanded areas of coverage this year include more information Adventure based activities and a historical feature on the Wrigley Centennial. Produced by Mix Marketing the guide is available in both hard copy and digital versions. Hard copies will be distributed beginning later this week with the digital version online shortly.

Since 2005, the North Carolina LEGO Users Group has put on LEGO-palooza at Morehead Planetarium & Science Center. Intricate LEGO exhibits are displayed throughout the building for a weekend – scenes of outer space, trains, amusement parks, city landmarks and more! There is something for everyone to enjoy. LEGO-palooza will also have LEGO activities so kids can come up with their own creation.

FLORIDA KEYS — The Florida Keys are bustling as new resorts continue to be unveiled throughout the destination.

New sustainable transportation options have been added in Islamorada’s Upper Matecumbe Key and expanded in Key West. Additionally, new airlift is coming to Key West from New York City and has been launched from Florida’s West Palm Beach.

Attractions continue to showcase sustainability and protection of the Keys’ natural resources and the island chain’s surrounding waters, protected by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

          Silver Dollar City is named to the top spot in the nation for “Best Theme Park Holiday Event” in USA Today’s 10Best poll, announced today by the newspaper. The honor followed four weeks of voting by USA Today’s audience that included their readers, theme park guests and fans, members of the media and even some national stars.  The title is now proudly rooted in the Ozarks as this is the third time the park has taken the top spot with the holiday festival An Old Time Christmas.

Washington State Governor Jay Inslee’s recent recommended three-year suspension of viewing endangered Southern Resident killer whales (SRKW) will not eliminate whale and wildlife watching activities in the San Juan Islands. Southern Residents make up a small percentage of local viewing opportunities; visitors can still view the Salish Sea’s other healthy populations of whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, sea lions and river otters on land or by sea. The San Juan Islands are still one of the best places in the world to do so.
