Arkansas tourism industry continues to strengthen state economy

2019 economic impact report indicates solid growth

The positive economic impact of tourism in Arkansas continues to be significant, according to data released from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. In 2019, just under 69,000 Arkansans worked directly within the travel industry, a 1.4 percent increase over 2018. And these ambassadors greeted more than 36 million visitors to The Natural State in 2019, a 10.2 percent increase.

Carr Mill Mall, in the heart of Carrboro, NC, was named for Julian Carr. The mall was a former cotton mill. Carr bought it in 1914, donated electricity to the community, and in honor and thanks the town changed its name from West End to Carrboro. But it’s not all good — in the Jim Crow era, Carr also played an essential role in sustaining white supremacy in North Carolina. Yet, as philosopher Marcus Aurelius reminds us: “The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury.” Carrboro takes that advice to a whole new level.

Investment club enjoys successful meeting on Mount Magazine
