Nestled an hour outside of Washington, D.C., the Fredericksburg, Va. region boasts picturesque downtowns, outdoor adventure, and culinary delights. Rich with American history, the region is home to two U.S. Presidents, including George Washington and James Monroe. From battlefields to historic homes, visitors can experience the day-to-day life of Mary Washington or get a lesson in medicine by physician Hugh Mercer. With more than 8,000 acres of preserved land, this region is filled with opportunities to study nature, hike or enjoy the water. Crows Nest Natural Area Preserve is a feat in conservation with 750 acres of marshes and wetlands perfect for paddle boarding or bird watching. Lake Anna, one of the largest freshwater inland lakes in Virginia, is perfect for day trips or vacations with family and friends. Whether youre sipping on grapes at Potomac Point Winery or kayaking down the Potomac river -- There is so much to enjoy in this Virginia region.

The Fredericksburg Region is known for the Boyhood home of George Washington, 4 major battles of the Civil War and historic downtown with great restaurants
2. Name one hidden gem that the media should not miss when visiting your destination. 
A Smith Bowman Distillery, the oldest distillery in Virginia and home to award winning spirits
3. What plans or events does your destination have scheduled that travel media should be aware of? 
2nd Weekend in August, Spotsy Arts Festival, a juried art show featuring 75+ artists on the historic courthouse grounds, Food Truck Rodeo 2nd weekend in April with 25+ food trucks, Marine Corps Historic Half downtown in May, NPS Living history events in June
4. What's one feature that can’t be missed when visiting your website?
The videos telling stories about the region

Emails, wanted to expand my database of travel writers

6. Is there anything else you feel travel media should know about your destination?
We are a great destination to visit along with a visit to Washington, D.C. or Richmond, VA, which were are ½ way between.  Most of the buildings in downtown are originals dating to the late 1700s early 1800s, Kenmore plantation is downtown and has the most elaborate plaster cielings anywhere.  Lake Anna is the 2nd largest lake in Virginia and has great fishing as well as water sport opportunities.
