Randy Johnson:
Randy Johnson is a widely published photojournalist who frequently contributes to national newspapers and magazines such as the Charlotte Observer and National Geographic Traveler. He was a keynote speaker at NATJA's early Newport, Rhode Island meeting. 

His highly anticipated coffee table book from the University of North Carolina Press, Grandfather Mountain: The History and Guide to An Appalachian Icon, was published in June 2016, and has been nominated for the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award. A full-color third edition of his bestseller, Hiking North Carolina has also just been released. 

Johnson is a Lowell Thomas Award-winning travel writer. Johnson was for nearly twenty years editor-in-chief of Hemispheres magazine, United Airlines inflight, and the nations most award-winning airline publication at the time. Under Randy's guidance, Hemispheres earned dozens of Eddy, Ozzie, Lowell Thomas, and NATJA awards. Hemispheres is the only inflight to win a James Beard Award and was named world's best inflight magazine in 2006. 

Johnson is the author of a number of books, among them Hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway, Best Easy Day Hikes Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the cult classic Southern Snow: The Winter Guide to Dixie, soon to be republished by UNC Press.
