Visit El Paso

Located in the western tip of Texas, El Paso is the largest international border community in the world, where two countries and three states meet.  Known for friendliness and hospitality, El Paso is also the only Texas city that can boast a mountain in the middle of town with over 100 miles of hiking and biking trails. Our multi-cultural city offers over 400 years of history that is well documented in public exhibits, performances and seasonal attractions. Guest can journey along the 9-mile mission trail, witness the craftsmanship of Western bootmakers, or enjoy the city’s collection of 13th-18th centuries Western European masterworks. You can also spend an evening enjoying Triple-A baseball, the Downtown Arts District, or experience the magic of the historic Plaza Theatre with a performance of a top Broadway touring show. It’s for seekers or adventurers as much as it is for those who just want to relax, enjoy the sun and experience El Paso’s one-of-a-kind charm!

Visit El Paso's Q&A:

What's one attraction that can’t be missed when visiting your destination?

I would say the Franklin Mountains State Park, which is the largest state park in an urban setting. It’s almost 27,000 acres, has over 100 miles of hiking and biking trail. It is also home to the Wyler Aerial Tramway, positioned on the east side of the mountain. With just a 4-minute ride to the top of Ranger Peak, you can see 7,000 square miles to include New Mexico and Mexico, which makes for great pictures! It’s also the only public aerial tramway in Texas.

What story ideas will travel media uncover at your destination?

What plans, events does your destination have scheduled that travel media should be aware of?

El Paso is currently undergoing  exponential growth and expansion, due to a $500 million Quality of Life Bond that was passed in 2012. It’s really transformed our city in so many ways from a zoo expansion, tremendous new hotel development, park improvements, a $75 million street car project, a $15 million Olympic-size competitive pool/natatorium and so much more. This year, El Paso received the National Civic League’s 2018 All-American City Award in June. The award is given to 20 cities across the US and is quite the prestigious accomplishment. In terms of events, El Paso is home to any different annual events and festivals such as Sun City Craft Beer Festival, Chalk the Block and Winterfest. More information on these events can be found at www.visitelpaso.com/events.

Is there anything else you feel travel media should know about your destination?

El Paso is often considered an off-the-beaten path destination, which makes it perfect for FAMs! We host a least one group FAM during the year and are always open to arrange individual trips as well. Our media request form can be found at https://visitelpaso.com/media/request_info. (Please note, individual trips must be requested at least 3 before arrival date)
