What's one attraction that can’t be missed when visiting your destination?

A: In addition to great beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, inland are the woodlands and Blackwater State Park. Visitors will not want to pass up the opportunity to zip-line, kayak, canoe or lazily tube down the Blackwater, one of the purest sand bottom rivers in the nation.

What story ideas will travel media uncover at your destination?

A: Travel writers will love the 2-in-1 vacation opportunity that Santa Rosa County provides from the beach to woodlands in north county. Gulf Islands National Seashore boasts an 8-mile stretch of non-commercialized white sand beach. Navarre Beach boasts the same white sand and blue green ocean blues but is dotted with a few vacation rentals and great places to taste the local catch. Head to Historic Milton, where in just 30-40 minutes, visitors can unplug from the digital world and dive into nature at Adventures Unlimited or Coldwater Gardens. Santa Rosa is an oft overlooked town that is home to friendly locals and business owners who are passionate about promoting environmental conservationists through sustainable tourism and fun interactions with nature.

What plans, events does your destination have scheduled that travel media should be aware of?

A: Tunes by the Dunes Summer Concert Series is in full swing and will continue until August 30. Join us every Thursday from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Navarre Beach Park’s Sand Crab Pavilion. We showcase a variety of local musicians ranging from jazz to country to rock and more.

As summer gives way to fall, the beaches still offer visitors glorious warm days but there’s also so much else to do throughout the entire county. Autumn is a special events season referred to locally as “Beaches To Woodlands.”  See what’s on the calendar and come join us. Room rates are low and the welcome is always warm!

Is there anything else you feel travel media should know about your destination?

A: Santa Rosa County, known as Florida's most relaxing place offers visitors refuge from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Enjoy the beach sans crowds and heavy partiers. There's plenty of places to snorkel and explore the local reef, learn to paddle board or surf, learn about animals and the local ecosystem or take the county motto literally and just relax. Navarre Beach is, quite simply, like no other coastal outpost in Florida. Think of this place on slender Santa Rosa Island as your own private Florida beach — open to the public. That’s because regardless of the season, Navarre Beach does not get crowded. Imagine arriving, beach gear in tow, and staking out an ample piece of real estate on sands that are a whiter shade of white. Sure, some other folks may be within a stone’s throw, or may amble by, but essentially you’ll have a lovely piece of paradise all for yourself and your family. Gaze out at the crystalline blue-green waters. Go for a swim, relax on a float, or simply sit with your toes in the sand. If that doesn’t make you decompress, what will?
